Just finished a weird stair job in Tempe that took 3 hours for one step

The homeowner had this custom curved bottom step with a metal nosing that was about a quarter inch off level. Spent forever trying to shim and stretch the carpet over it without a visible dip. Ended up having to cut a custom pad piece and use a knee kicker from three different angles. Anyone ever dealt with a metal nosing that wasn't flush before?

My buddy had a metal nosing like that and he ended up using a heat gun to soften the carpet.

Sounds risky, maybe just pull it up instead.

Did the metal nosing itself have any give, or was it totally rigid?
