Vent: that guy at the supply house who said power stretchers are overrated

I overheard a younger installer at the counter last week telling the sales guy that kick stretchers work just fine if you know what you're doing. He claimed power stretchers just waste time setting up. I've been doing this in Denver for 12 years and I have to say, I disagree completely. A kick stretcher leaves too much risk for wrinkles in three months, especially on commercial glue-down jobs. Has anyone else run into people dismissing the good tools like that?

Kick stretchers are fine for small rooms, but power stretchers save you from callbacks later.

He sayin that about glue-down commercial jobs? I've seen kick stretchers leave wavy spots on glue-down after a few months when the temp swings hit. Denver summers and winters are brutal for that. Did he happen to mention what kind of work he usually does, like carpet swap outs or actually stretching existing stuff?
