I used to think those drying racks were stupid until my son's jerseys shrank in 3 washes

Started using a collapsible metal rack from Target after ruining a $45 NBA jersey - now I just hang everything delicate on it overnight and it's fine. Anybody else stubborn about laundry stuff until something gets ruined?

My friend Sarah had a really expensive espresso machine that she was obsessed with. She would spend 15 minutes every morning cleaning the thing and refused to buy a pod machine because she thought they were for lazy people. Then her machine broke during a housewarming party and her neighbor brought over a cheap Nespresso. She was so mad that it made better coffee faster and now she acts like she invented pod coffee. She still brings up the old machine like it was a betrayal though.

Resisted getting a steamer for years because irons worked fine. Then I melted a polyester dress right before a wedding. Spent $25 on a handheld steamer and now I steam everything even t-shirts. It's funny how we get locked into doing things one way until something breaks. I notice this with my parents too they refuse to use a rice cooker or an air fryer but get mad when food burns. I guess it's just human nature to stick with what we know until the universe gives us a hard lesson. What household tool did you swear by until it betrayed you?
