That one Tuesday where everything went wrong at once
Last Tuesday was supposed to be a quick move for us, just a small one-bedroom in downtown Austin. But the client forgot to tell us their building had a freight elevator that broke down at 8 AM, and we had to use the stairs for 6 floors. I swear the universe was laughing at me because two of my crew called in sick right before we started too. Has anyone else had a day where every little thing just piled up like that?

You mentioned "the universe was laughing at me" which is a pretty common saying, but I gotta gently point out that the universe isn't actually a conscious thing that laughs at people. It's just a big dumb collection of stars and space dust (you know, mostly empty space). I get that you mean it as a figure of speech though, and Wednesday last week was my own personal Tuesday from hell. My car battery died in the Target parking lot and then I realized I left my wallet at home, so I couldn't even buy a jump box. It really does feel like everything piles up on those days, but I think it's more about how when one thing goes wrong, our brain starts noticing every other little annoyance too. The stairs thing sounds absolutely brutal though, six floors with moving boxes is its own special kind of torture.

Six floors with moving boxes sounds like someone playing a joke on you. I gotta ask though, do you think the freight elevator thing was the client being shady or did they actually not know about it? People pull that "oh I forgot" card way too often when it benefits them. I've dealt with enough rental situations to know buildings usually send out notices about elevator maintenance way ahead of time.
