Grabbed a used CTA pass from a guy on Craigslist for $50

Turns out it was a senior Citizen pass from 2019. Got flagged at the turnstile and had to talk to a transit cop for 20 minutes. Anyone else run into fake transit passes while trying to save a buck moving here?

$50 for a CTA pass? Might as well have bought a Monopoly Get Out of Jail Free card. That cop probably had a better story later that day than you did. At least you didn’t get a ticket, just a free 20 minute lesson in why you don’t buy transit tickets from a guy named “Slick Rick” outside the el.

Wait, are you actually defending that cop? The guy who watched someone get scammed for 50 bucks and then let it slide because he thought it was funny? That's not a good story, that's a cop not doing his job. He could have at least tried to find Slick Rick or warned the guy before he handed over the cash. Instead he just stood there and let it happen. Thats messed up. What kind of message does that send to people who get scammed in this city? That the police will just laugh at you and move on.
