People keep calling the L the 'subway' and it drives me nuts
Moved here six months ago from Boston. Every time someone says 'subway' I cringe. It's the L, it's above ground half the time. Saw a guy with a map ask where the subway entrance was at Clark and Lake. Pointed up.

Pointed to the elevated tracks and said "you're looking at it." Got some confused looks but eventually they laughed when they figured it out. Just gotta embrace the chaos and correct people real nice like.

I did something similar at a street fair a few years back. Just pointed up over the crowd noise and said "they're just running late today." It took a couple seconds for the joke to land but then a few people cracked up. You gotta read the room and keep it light.
