Took me 3 months to figure out the parking permit system in Chicago
I kept getting tickets for street parking even though I thought I registered my car online (turns out you need to go to a physical currency exchange for the sticker). Has anyone else wasted hours bouncing between city websites only to find out you need an in-person visit?

Oh man, the physical sticker thing is such a trap. Why do they make you go in person when everything else is online? That is absurd. What did the person at the counter say when you finally got there, did they act like you were the hundredth person that week making the same mistake?

My friend @the_tara waited 45 minutes just for the guy to ask if she'd tried refreshing the page.

The clerk barely looked up, just sighed and handed me the sticker like I was the 47th version of the same broken record they'd seen that morning. Made me wonder if they have a bingo card for common mistakes somewhere (and I definitely hit the "lost online confirmation" square). At least I brought snacks to make the wait feel less like a personal failure.
