Just realized my neighbor's solar setup was a scam after 14 months

The real problem is these scammers are counting on people not checking with their utility company first. Any legit solar setup in Phoenix requires permit paperwork and an interconnection agreement with APS or SRP. If that paperwork doesn't exist, there is no juice flowing and the whole thing is theater. A quick call to the city permit office would have shut this down in ten minutes. Maybe we should be pushing for neighborhoods to share a simple checklist for anyone dealing with door knockers. And the fact that these crooks go after retirees tells you they know exactly who won't question a polished story.
