Appreciation post: a beauty brand owner said "we keep the receipts" on a podcast and it's stuck with me all week
I was listening to a small skincare founder talk on a podcast last Tuesday, and she brought up how she keeps screenshots of every collab offer and DM from influencers who later trash her brand. She shared a story about a creator with 400k followers who demanded $8k, got turned down, then posted a video calling the products "trash" with no proof. My question is, do you think brands should post those receipts publicly, or does that just drag the drama out longer?
My cousin runs a candle company and she posted a screenshot once of a 200k follower who did the same thing, demanded free product then trashed her when she said no. It worked for like a day then people started calling HER messy and it dragged on for two weeks. I'd say keep the receipts in case a real legal thing comes up, but posting them usually just makes the brand look petty even when they're right.
