The Beauty YouTuber I defended for 2 years just quietly deleted 400+ videos and I feel dumb
So I used to go hard for this beauty YouTuber, like commenting on every upload, buying her palette from Sephora for 42 bucks. Then someone in a Discord server pulled up her old Twitter from 2016 and it was a mess, like dozens of posts I never saw because she wiped them years before I even found her channel. What got me was the timing. She deleted over 400 videos in one weekend, all the ones where she mentioned the old brand deals, and her sub count fell from 3.1 million to 2.8 million in about 10 days. I went back to check and half the tutorials I learned from are just gone, no explanation, no community post, nothing. Just curious if anyone else has a creator they rode hard for and then found out the cleanup started way before the apology video.

400 videos in one weekend is not a cleanup, thats a purge. But the sub count part is off. Losing 300k subs in 10 days sounds huge until you do the math, thats less than 10 percent of 3.1 million. Most of those people probably werent watching anyway, they just never unsubbed from years ago. The real tell is the video wipe, because you dont delete 400 tutorials unless someone told you to. That usually means lawyers or a manager got involved before any apology video was even written. So the cleanup didnt start before the apology, the cleanup is why the apology happened at all.
