Had a coolant pump go out on the old Haas VF-2 right at the start of a 200-part run
It was Tuesday morning and the machine just started screaming. Shut it down and found the pump motor was totally shot, no warning. My boss said we had to get the parts out by Friday, no way around it. I spent the next six hours on the phone finding a replacement motor, then another three getting it swapped in and the lines bled. Has anyone else had a major component fail mid-job and how did you handle the rush?

Honestly that sounds like a normal Tuesday to me, not some huge crisis. Nine hours total downtime for a pump swap is pretty good time, you should be happy with that. Some shops would have that machine down for two days waiting on a part. Boss gave you a clear deadline and you met it, that's just doing the job. I've seen way worse failures where the whole spindle goes out and you're down for a week.
