A stranger at the library made me rethink how I debug
Last Tuesday I was stuck on a simple Python loop that kept crashing, and this older guy sitting next to me at the downtown library glanced over and said, 'Print your assumptions, not your variables.' He showed me how to add a couple of print statements before the loop to check what I thought the data was versus what it really was, and that caught the issue in 5 minutes. Has anyone else had a random person give them a debugging tip that completely changed their workflow?
