My grinder's burrs completely seized up on me yesterday morning right before a big meeting.

Ugh, that's the actual worst. I used to just buy the cheapest grinder and run it into the ground. Then my old one locked up during a family brunch, and I'm trying to make coffee for eight people with a mortar and pestle like a caveman. That was the day I finally got one with proper steel burrs. The difference is insane, way more consistent and it just doesn't quit. Never going back.

Feel that pain, happened to me with a cheap ceramic burr set that welded itself together. Totally get what @jenny_scott6 means about the steel burr upgrade, it's a different world. My current one has taken some serious abuse and still gives the same grind every time. Never realized how much a bad grind was messing up my coffee until I switched.

What brand of steel burr grinder did you both end up with? I'm stuck between a couple options and hearing how long yours has held up is a big deal. The cheap ones seem fine until they totally fail at the worst time, like Jenny's brunch story. I'm trying to avoid making that same mistake twice.
