Finally hit up that comic shop in downtown Portland last weekend
I drove about 2 hours to get to this place called Floating World Comics that I've been meaning to check out for like a year. The whole shop is tiny, maybe 300 square feet, but I noticed something cool - they had a whole section just for local indie creators. There was this one guy who hand drew a 12 page mini comic about his cat getting lost in the laundry room. I ended up buying it for $5 and read it in the car before driving home. Has anyone else found a hidden gem like that where the owner actually remembers your name after one visit?

Floating World is great but I walked in there once and the owner gave me a 15 minute lecture on why Marvel's variant covers are a scam. I respect the passion but I just wanted to flip through some back issues in peace. $5 for a cat laundry room comic sounds like a better deal than therapy though.

That's just life these days though, you can't buy a sandwich without getting a five minute lecture on the global supply chain. Everyone's got a manifesto and it's always coming out at the worst possible time.
