Found a trick for keeping my longboxes organized without buying dividers

I got tired of my comic longboxes turning into a mess after every reading session, so I cut up some old cardboard comic book backing boards and taped them as tabs between series. It took me about 20 minutes to label everything with a sharpie, and now I can find any issue in under 10 seconds. Has anyone else repurposed old supplies like that or do you just buy the plastic dividers?

Man oh man, those tape flags are genius and here I am cutting up my poor backing boards like some kind of comic book butcher. I swear I must have wrecked about a dozen boards that could have lived to see another decade if I had just thought of something that simple. My longboxes look like a war zone now with all these jagged little cardboard tabs sticking out everywhere. Guess I'll be saving my pennies for the plastic dividers and pretending this never happened.

Read a tip online about using those plastic tape flags. The colored ones. Worked pretty well for me. Bought a cheap pack from the dollar store. Stick them on the back of your backing boards sticking up a bit. Lets you flip to any series fast without even opening the box all the way. They're reusable too. Just peel and move if you add new stuff. Better than cutting up boards in my opinion since those can still be used later.
