My mailman saw my stack of long boxes and asked if I was moving or hoarding, and it got me thinking
I've got 14 long boxes stacked in my hallway and my mailman Danny asked last Tuesday if I was moving out or just hoarding, and I laughed it off at first. But then he mentioned his nephew reads comics on a tablet now and never touches paper, and it hit me that I've been buying floppies out of habit more than joy at this point. So I started a pull list budget of $40 a month and put the rest toward trades I keep on a shelf I can see. Two weeks in and I've reread more of my own books than I did in the last 6 months combined. Anyone else do a pull list trim and regret it, or did it make reading fun again for you?
Honestly I did pretty much the same thing last year when I finally counted my boxes and felt sick about it. What worked for me was going through everything first instead of just cutting the list cold, because half those books I was pulling out of habit and not because I even liked them anymore. I capped myself at 3 series and anything else has to wait for a trade on sale, and that rule alone saved me so much money. Two things happened: my shelf of trades became stuff I actually reach for, and the few floppies I still get feel special again. No regrets at all, just wish Danny had called me out sooner.
