Question about keeping a run intact vs. selling off arc duplicates

I faced this when my long box hit 1,000 issues last year. I had three copies of the same 12 issue Venom arc from the 90s because I kept buying lots for one key issue. I sold the extras to a shop in Tacoma for store credit, about $85, but now I wonder if I should have traded them online for gaps in my X-Force run instead. Do you guys break up duplicate arcs for single holes, or do you keep them whole for potential future trades? Curious how other collectors handle this without hoarding.

Man, I feel this in my soul. I once bought a whole long box at a garage sale for one Uncanny X-Men issue and ended up with like five copies of the same Wolverine arc, so I basically became a hoarder by accident. I kept them together for a while thinking I'd trade them as a set, but nobody ever wanted all three at once, so they just sat there taking up space. Selling for store credit was probably the smart move since cash or credit beats waiting forever for the perfect trade. Idk though, trading for X-Force gaps sounds way more fun than store credit if you can find the right person.
