Shoutout to the guy at my local shop who taught me to bag and board BEFORE reading
Three weeks ago I was complaining at checkout about a creased corner on a $40 back issue I'd just bought, and he told me he bags and boards everything the second it comes out of the box now, even the readers. I tried it on a stack of 12 books from last month's haul and my copies look way better. Anyone else do this or am I just late to the party?
Started doing this about a year ago after watching a buddy pull a mint copy out of a beat up long box. Now every book gets a bag and board the day it comes in, readers included. My dollar bin stuff still looks like dollar bin stuff but the keys from the last few years are holding up way better than the ones I skipped. Only downside is the cost adds up, so I buy boards in bulk packs now instead of singles at the shop.
