A deckhand in Galveston once told me 'the water doesn't care about your schedule' after I rushed a gear check.

He was right, I missed a frayed spot on my umbilical and had to surface. Anyone else have a simple moment that changed how you prep?

That line really gets to the heart of it... it's not just about the water, it's about everything out there. The weather doesn't care, the metal doesn't care if it's tired, the job doesn't care if you're in a hurry. Rushing just makes you blind to the little things that matter most. That frayed spot is a perfect example... a tiny thing you'd never miss if you gave yourself that extra minute.

That "water doesn't care" line hits hard.

My buddy learned that lesson the hard way with a boat trailer. He was rushing to get it in the water before a storm. Forgot to check the bearings. Wheel seized up a mile from the ramp. That hour he saved cost him a whole axle.
