My new dive light flooded on the first job and almost left me in the dark

I dropped about $400 on a fancy 2000 lumen canister light for a night inspection job in Seattle last month. On the second dive, the main head seal gave out at 60 feet, and the beam cut to a dim flicker. I had to finish the survey using my backup, which was not bright enough for the murky water. Has anyone else had a major gear failure with a light they just bought?

That's a rough one, but at least you had a backup. A dim flicker at 60 feet isn't total darkness. I've seen guys have their primary and backup fail on the same dive, now that's a real problem.

Makes you wonder if they even test this stuff before they sell it. I see it everywhere now, from tools to kitchen gadgets. You pay for the brand name and the fancy specs, but the basic stuff that keeps it working just isn't there. It's like they expect the warranty to handle it after it fails on you.
