Spare reg vs. backup tank bottle, one saved me on a job in Galveston

Tbh I used to just carry a spare second stage in my bag and call it a backup. After a seal blew on a pipeline inspection off Galveston last month, I realized the spare reg did nothing without a full bottle attached. Switched to a proper pony bottle setup with its own reg, cost about $400 but it fits in my lift bag harness easier. Anyone else run a dedicated bailout bottle or still trust the spare reg trick?

You ever see a guy swim sideways for a hundred yards with a dead reg? My buddy did, now he runs a pony bottle too.
