Just swapped from a cheap thermal paste to Arctic MX-6 on a gaming PC job

Honestly, I was using some generic paste from a bulk kit for years. Tried the MX-6 on a client's overheating Ryzen 7 build and saw temps drop by a solid 12 degrees Celsius under load. The difference in consistency and spread was night and day. For those of you who do a lot of repastes, do you think the premium pastes are worth the extra few bucks per tube, or is it overkill for most repairs?

Twelve degrees is a massive drop from just a paste change. I've seen maybe five degrees with better paste, but that's a whole different level. Was the old paste completely dried out or something?

Read a forum post once where a guy found the factory paste was basically just a dried up crust... it wasn't even spread, just a hard little blob in the middle. His temps dropped almost fifteen degrees after cleaning it off and applying a proper amount. Makes you wonder what some of these assembly lines are doing.
