So I tried whipping up some stir-fry at my desk during a system scan and the smoke alarm kicked off

Yikes, that brings back some memories. I had a close call once with a toaster oven in my office. What worked for me was always opening a window nearby before I started cooking anything. Using a lower heat setting and a small desk fan pointed at the appliance also made a big difference. It really helps to keep the steam and smoke moving away from the detector.

Appreciate the practical tip, gonna try that fan trick next time. Works great for keeping the smoke away from the sensor. Might finally stop annoying my whole floor with the alarm, lol.

Honestly @blair_taylor, is it even that big of a deal? I've set off my alarm before and it's fine. Seems like people are just being extra.
