Finally hit 1,000 yards of stamped concrete solo, blew my own mind
Been doing flatwork for about 5 years and this month I wrapped up a 1,000 square yard stamped patio job near Austin with just me and one helper. I kept track of every pour day and realized we placed and finished 95 yards in a single 11 hour stretch, something I never thought possible without a full crew. Has anyone else hit a yardage milestone that surprised them and changed how they bid bigger jobs?
Man, 95 yards in 11 hours with two guys is no joke. What saved my crew on the big jobs was getting the mud company to stagger trucks so we were never waiting around with a finished edge drying out on us. We also started wet setting a lot of the stamp work, which cut out a whole step and let us keep moving. The biggest change was planning the pour in sections and having every tool and release agent staged before the first truck showed up. Bidding got easier once I knew our real numbers instead of guessing. Now I price big jobs off what we can actually place in a day, not what I hope we can.
