Old timer named Frank taught me to wet cure slabs with burlap back in 2003

Frank was maybe 65 at the time, been finishing since the 60s. We were on a big warehouse floor outside Denver. He grabbed some burlap sacking, soaked it, and laid it over the fresh slab. Said keeping it damp for 7 days straight makes the concrete harder than any sealant. Told me if I skip that step I am just wasting my time. I still do it that way. Any of you guys still wet cure or is everyone just spraying cure and seal now?

@king.wyatt Man that skating rink thing is exactly why I still wet cure. Frank was right, burlap does something to the chemistry that spray seal just can't match. Sorry your neighbor got stuck with that slick mess, it's a bummer when people skip the old ways.

That bit about "harder than any sealant" - you ever actually test that side by side against a cure and seal on the same pour?

My neighbor used spray sealant on his driveway last summer and now it looks like a skating rink when it rains.
