Thinking back to my first pour in '98, we'd mix the topping by hand in a wheelbarrow with a hoe for what felt like hours.

Now my crew uses a 3.5 cubic foot mixer for every job, which saves our backs and gets a more consistent mix, but does anyone else miss the quiet control of doing it the old way sometimes?

Wait, you mixed topping in a wheelbarrow with a HOE? That's wild! I can't even picture how you'd get a smooth mix without tearing up the barrow. My arms hurt just thinking about it. I bet you had some serious calluses back then. Total respect for doing that, but I don't miss those kinds of chores at all!

I used to think that too, until my back started hurting.
