My uncle swore the water bill spike in Tucson was a rate hike, but it was a running toilet the whole time
So my uncle in Tucson got his water bill in March and it was $180, up from $60 the month before. He went straight to the city council meeting and told everyone the utility was sneaking in rate hikes without telling anybody. I told him to check the meter at night with everything off, and he called me back two days later real quiet. The little dial was spinning while him and my aunt were asleep, and it turned out a flapper in the guest bathroom had been leaking since January. He swore up and down it had to be a rate hike, but it was just a $12 part. Has anyone else watched somebody build a whole theory on a number that had a boring answer?
