Why does nobody talk about prepaid funeral plans being a trap?

I put $2,800 into one of those pre-need burial packages back in March after a pushy sales guy at a senior fair in Tulsa convinced me it locked in current prices. Then my aunt passed in June and her family hit the same company, turns out the fine print excludes things like the vault liner and obituary fees, so they still owed $1,900 at the cemetery gate. I called to cancel mine and they tried to hit me with a 30% surrender fee, which I only dodged because I recorded the call and threatened to file with the state. Have any of you actually used one of these plans and got what you paid for, or is it all just a way to trap grieving families?
