That one Tuesday when Procore crashed right before a 200k drywall order

I was about to submit a material order for a whole floor of a hotel in Austin and the whole system went down for three hours. My supplier missed the cutoff and we had to pay for rush shipping which ate $1,400 out of the budget. Has anyone else had a software glitch cost them real money like that?

I read somewhere that Procore had a major outage in 2022 that affected like 40% of their users for a full afternoon. One guy on a construction forum said his crew lost an entire day of pouring concrete in Las Vegas because the material delivery got delayed by the system crash. For me, it was that $1,400 rush fee that hurt but I bet some people lost way more than that on those big pours or critical path stuff.

Wow yeah that Las Vegas concrete story is rough. I mean it's kinda wild how much we've handed over our daily lives to these cloud systems without really thinking about what happens when they just go down for a few hours.
