That week every blueprint callout was wrong and we caught it by Friday
We had a rough stretch on a poured basement job outside Columbus last fall. The architect's drawings kept matching the old site survey but not the actual lot after grading. We flagged four different foundation offsets by Wednesday and every one traced back to a stale CAD file someone never updated in the software. Cost us about six hours of rework and a lot of coffee before we switched everyone to the live model and did a walkthrough with the GC on site. Now I make the crew screenshot the current version and save it to the job folder every morning before we dig. Has anyone else had a client's engineer refuse to update their own drawings even after you show them the mismatch?
Feeling your pain on the stale CAD files, that stuff eats up a whole morning before you even notice. Good call on the daily screenshot, that kind of paper trail is the only thing that gets an engineer moving sometimes.
