The part about it dying mid fade is what gets me. Same thing happened to me on a packed Saturday, clipper just quit halfway up a dude's head. First thing I did was stay calm and tell the guy straight up what happened, most people are cool if you don't try to hide it. I always keep a cheap backup pair in the drawer now, they cut like garbage but they'll get you through a rough fade in a pinch. If you got no backup, a lot of shops will let you run to the nearest store if it's close, or you lean on the guy in the next chair. Lesson is you never run just one pair, ever. Cost me one angry customer to learn that and I never made the same mistake twice.
