Finally cracked a short story after 6 months of writer's block
I used to just stare at a blank page for hours trying to force a first line, but last Tuesday I switched to writing the ending scene first and the whole thing just clicked. That one trick got me from zero words to 1,200 words in a single sitting, which is huge for me. Has anyone else found a weird method that broke their writer's block out of nowhere?

Actually 1,200 words in one sitting is pretty average, not huge.

Oh man, I wish my average was 1,200 words in one go!

...because a buddy of mine once wrote about 3,000 words in one sitting for a D&D campaign backstory, and his hand cramped up so bad he couldn't hold a beer for two days. @jakel36 probably hasn't tried writing that much when the concrete mixer's waiting either, haha. Point is, 1,200 words is a solid clip for most of us, even if some people act like it's nothing.
