Vent: My old boss insisted we didn't need client contracts for projects under $5k...

My buddy learned that the hard way last year.

Just realized everyone is wrong about emergency funds needing to be six months of expenses.

Honestly, the standard advice is for a standard life... and most of our lives aren't that. I drained my own fund down to one month's bills for a coding bootcamp. It felt reckless for about three weeks, but it was the only way out of a job that was killing me slowly. The trick is to treat that spent money like a real investment, not a shopping spree... you need a clear plan to get a return, not just a vague hope.

TIL I was totally missing the point of 'watch order' debates

Ugh, hard agree. Release order is the only way for stuff like that. The whole point is the confusion, you're supposed to piece it together as you go. Watching it all straight through kills the vibe, it's like reading the last page of a mystery novel first. They put it out in that order for a reason, to make you think. Chronological is for a boring rewatch, not the first time.

TIL my great grandma's 'secret' sauerkraut recipe was basically just salt and cabbage

Wait, I don't know... I feel like the secret is the care they put in. My aunt's jam tastes like home because she made it every summer, not just because of the fruit. That time and love is the real ingredient.

Just finished my 500th shoeing job this year and the number kind of stopped me cold.

Tbh, that number would make my own back ache just thinking about it. I threw mine out last year just trying to move a couch that was way too heavy. Can't imagine doing that kind of precise, bent-over work all day.
