Finally hit a 30 day writing streak after swapping my method

I was trying to write for an hour every morning, but kept missing days when work got busy. Last month, I switched to just aiming for 200 words a day, no matter what time. I wrote over 6,000 words in April, which is way more than my old 'big session' plan ever got me. Has anyone else found that a tiny daily goal works better than a big weekly one?

My 50 word daily goal got me through a whole novel draft last year. The small wins really add up.

That's so true about small wins. It's like cleaning a room by just putting away five things a day, or saving money with a tiny automatic transfer. The goal feels too small to fail, so you just do it. Then one day you look up and the whole job is done. What's the next tiny goal after the draft?

Wait 200 words a day got you 6,000 in a month? That's crazy. I mean alex_johnson is right about small wins, but I could never keep that up.
