Hit 5,000 words on my novel draft and stopped hating it
I was stuck at 2,300 for two weeks, then just forced myself to write garbage for three days straight. Seeing the counter hit 5,000 made me realize quantity actually helps the quality show up later. Anyone else have a word count that flipped a switch in their head?

@brown.gavin reminds me of my friend Marco. He was stuck at 3,000 words for a month, then just started writing about a guy eating cereal for three pages. Hit 6,000 and suddenly knew the whole second act. Said the garbage writing unlocked it.

You know my buddy Dan? He swore his novel was cursed at 1,500 words. Then he just typed "and then stuff happened" for a whole weekend. Hit 8,000 and said that's when he finally figured out where the story was actually going.

Oh man, that's basically my writing strategy except my "and then stuff happened" phase usually lasts about three months before I just start a new project and pretend the old one doesn't exist.
