TIL my neighbor's typewriter habit sparked a cool writing idea

So, my neighbor collects old typewriters and I found out he writes weird letters to no one. It got me thinking about a prompt where someone finds mysterious notes from next door. Anyone have tips on how to build the story? I'm stuck on why the neighbor is doing it. Like, maybe it's a code for something bigger?
