Warning: that outline app lost my 40k word draft

Was using a new writing app for my fantasy series, one that saves to cloud only, and it wiped my whole project on Tuesday. Lost 4 chapters I wrote over two weeks in Portland. Backing up to a USB drive and plain text files now, anyone else had a cloud service pull this?

Friend of mine had the same thing happen with a photo app. Lost a whole year of trip pictures, just gone. Now he keeps everything on an external drive too, cloud is just the backup now.
