Debate: Planning every video vs. just hitting record and winging it
I've been making gaming vids for about 2 years now and I keep going back and forth on this. For my last 5 videos I wrote out full scripts and planned every shot, but they felt stiff and took me 6 hours each to edit. Then I tried just turning on the mic and playing raw for 30 minutes, editing down the best parts, and the energy felt way more real. The raw video got 2,000 views while the scripted one got 400. But then again, my scripted video had a higher watch time percentage. Which approach do you guys lean toward for keeping viewers hooked?

Yeah same pattern with cooking shows, overplanning kills the natural feel every time.

Overplanning kills the natural feel" is basically the story of my life honestly. I tried to make a simple pasta dish last week and had a whole spreadsheet for timing, ended up burning the garlic while I was triple checking my "garlic schedule." You ever notice how the best meals you make are the ones where you just kind of throw things together and hope for the best? My brain just can't handle that kind of freedom though, I need structure or I panic. So I guess I'm stuck being the guy who ruins dinner by being too organized, which is a weird skill to have.
