Spent $180 on a 'viral' 2012 vlog camera, regret it instantly

Found my old YouTube channel from 2012 where I tried to be a vlogger and used this cheap flip cam that shot in 240p. Got nostalgic, saw people on TikTok hyping those old camcorders for 'aesthetic' footage. Dropped $180 on a used Sony Handycam from eBay, same model I had back then. Turns out the grainy look is way less charming when it's not filtered through rose colored glasses. The battery lasts 20 minutes, the tape deck eats cassettes, and I forgot you needed a firewire cable just to get the video off. Now it's sitting in my closet next to my old skateboard, and I'm honestly just impressed I ever made 40 videos with this thing. Anyone else bought gear from their cringe era and immediately remembered why they upgraded?

Turns out nostalgia is a liar, that firewire cable humbled me real fast.
