My architect gave me the wildest choice for the master closet

It was either a standard walk-in or a 'secret' closet hidden behind a bookshelf door. I went with the secret one, and now my partner keeps forgetting where their shoes are. Anyone else add a fun hidden feature that backfired a little?

Okay but does your partner at least think it's cool? My dad built a hidden door into our basement rec room when I was a kid, just a plain wood panel that swung out. It was awesome for hide and seek, but we had to put a big scratch on the floor next to it because guests could never find the bathroom, they'd just stand there looking lost. The fun secret part totally worked, maybe too well.

Oh he LOVES it, it was his idea. We put a tiny magnet release behind a baseboard so it's not obvious at all. The trade-off is we have to show literally everyone how it works, but seeing their face when the wall moves is worth it every time.

Man that scratch on the floor is a genius fix. Makes me wonder about the real hidden cost of secret stuff, you know? Like, it's not just the money for the hinges or the fake bookcase. It's the time you spend over the years guiding every single confused person through it. That mental labor adds up, and it's totally invisible until you're the one giving the same tour for the tenth time.
