Saw something at the new Oakwood Ridge development that has me worried

I was driving through Oakwood Ridge in Springfield last week and stopped to look at a few custom homes going up. On one lot, I saw the crew using what looked like untreated pine for the bottom plates on the foundation. I asked the site guy about it and he just shrugged, said it was 'fine for now'. That's a big moisture risk waiting to happen. Has anyone else seen builders cutting corners like this in your area?

Yeah, that's a classic move to save a few bucks now. Watched a crew do the same thing with untreated lumber on a slab for a sunroom. Two winters later, the whole sill plate was mush and they had to jack up the wall to fix it. That 'fine for now' line is a huge red flag. Always use pressure treated wood anywhere it touches concrete. It's not worth the headache down the road.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy's place. They used cheap OSB for the roof sheathing on his whole addition, not even the good stuff. It swelled up like a sponge after one rainy season, had to redo the whole roof deck.

Did your friend's contractor skip the weather barrier too?
