Deleted post about that viral raccoon rescue in Austin was fake, found the timeline holes
Someone posted a tearjerker story last week about saving a raccoon from a storm drain near Zilker Park, and it got thousands of shares before vanishing overnight. I traced the timestamps against the actual flood reports from the 2023 storm, and the poster claimed they filmed it on a day the drain was already dry for 4 days. Has anyone else caught these feel-good rescue posts getting scrubbed after someone pokes the details?
Remember that whole thing with the deer stuck in a fence in Dallas last year? Everybody shared it. Guy said he used bolt cutters and wrapped it in a blanket. Real heroic stuff. Turns out the deer was already freed by animal control two hours before he showed up. He just posed next to it for pics. Whole post got wiped once people started asking why the fence was still bent the wrong way.
