The 'Alien' deleted scene where Ripley finds the cocooned colonists hits different now

I finally watched the deleted scene from Alien on the blu-ray where Ripley walks in on Dallas and Brett turned into eggs. The original movie just has her finding the derelict ship but this scene shows the whole hive process. It's creepier because you see how the xenomorph repurposes people into its lifecycle. That scene got cut about 45 years ago cause the studio thought it slowed down the pacing. Has anyone else seen this version and felt like it changes how you view the creature's behavior?

Isn't it wild how a scene that got cut for pacing actually makes the whole movie deeper? I remember showing my buddy the theatrical cut once and he was like "so the eggs just appear out of nowhere?" and I didn't have a good answer. The hive part reminds me of when I found a spider web in my garage that had this whole system of wrapped up bugs in a corner, some still moving, felt like I was walking into something I wasn't supposed to see.

Man that scene totally reframed the xenomorph for me too. The way it uses the colonists like living furniture is way more unsettling than just killing everyone.
