Why does nobody talk about deleted scenes that completely change a character's motivation?

Actually there are people who talk about this... mostly in fan communities for specific shows or movies. The Lord of the Rings extended editions come to mind, where Boromir's deleted scenes show him way more torn about taking the ring instead of just giving in to temptation. Those scenes make his sacrifice hit way harder.

Wait hold on, @nancygrant, you're telling me those scenes were actually filmed and just cut? I had no idea they even existed. That changes everything about his character honestly. The way he's always seen as just the weak one who falls, but if there's more to it, that's a totally different story. Gonna have to track down those extended editions now and see for myself.
