PSA: I was using the wrong size wrench on my fuel line fittings for a solid week
Working on a Duramax in the shop, I kept rounding off the corners on these new stainless lines. My buddy walks over, picks up my 14mm, and says 'You know these are 9/16, right?'. I just stared at the box, which clearly said 9/16, and felt my brain short circuit. I'd grabbed the wrong wrench from my cart and never double checked. Anyone else ever have a moment like that where you just autopilot into a stupid mistake?

Did you at least have the right size for the flare nut on the other end, or was the whole project just metric all the way down?

Remembered @morganhill's post halfway through stripping a bolt.

That 9/16 and 14mm are so close it's a real trap. I've done the same thing on brake lines before, finleyh89. The flare nut is usually the same size as the line fitting, so if you have the wrong wrench for one, you're probably wrong for both. It's crazy how your brain can just lock onto a number and ignore the actual tool in your hand. Makes you stop and triple check everything for the rest of the day.
