Digital art galleries are starting to charge submission fees without clear benefits.
This new cost barrier could lock out emerging artists from exposure.

The last gallery I saw asked for 20 dollars just to look at your portfolio. What happens when good artists start seeing these fees as a scam and stop applying? The gallery ends up with only the people who can pay, not the best work. Over time, the whole show gets a reputation for being cash-grabby and the quality drops. Then nobody wins, not even the paying artists who get stuck in a weak lineup.

Right, my last attempt at digital art was a blurry cat drawing that even my mom wouldn't frame. If I had to pay twenty bucks to submit that, I'd owe the gallery an apology fee instead.
