Three weeks chasing a visa in Thailand, still got it wrong

Tbh I thought the whole digital nomad visa thing was just a quick trip to immigration. Spent 3 weeks in Chiang Mai bouncing between offices, got told my income proof from PayPal wasn't valid, and ended up paying 2,000 baht for an agent to sort it in a day. Has anyone else had a country's rules change on them mid-application?
