Put up crown molding in our living room and got the miters all wrong
I was cutting crown molding for our living room in Portland last weekend and my miter saw kept drifting a half degree off. The corner joints had gaps you could fit a quarter through. Has anyone else fought with spring angle settings on crown molding and found a trick to keep the cut consistent?

I used to think a digital angle finder was overkill and just eyeballed it, but after my last crown molding disaster I finally bought one and it saved me. That half degree drift sounds exactly like what I was fighting until I locked the saw down tight and double checked with the gauge on every cut. It's not perfect but now my corners close up tight enough I don't have to hide them with caulk.

Honestly, locking the saw down tight made all the difference for me too.

That half degree drift @robinj29 is exactly why I lock mine down now too.
