Rant: Is drywall mudding better with a still knife or a flexible one?

After that crap show of a ceiling repair I did 2 weeks ago in my buddy's 1950s bungalow where every corner was off, I'm split between using a stiff 12-inch blade for flat seams and a flex one for the angles, so which side do you swear by and why?

Stiff blade all the way for flat seams. Flex just makes me fight the mud on those long runs.

@wright.lisa Flex blades let you follow the slight contours better without fighting the pan.
