Spent $12 on a cheap caulk gun and learned why you don't go bargain bin

I was sealing baseboards in my 1940s bungalow last weekend and figured any caulk gun would work. Figured wrong. The cheap one kept dripping and the rod would slip back, making a mess every time I paused. Borrowed my neighbor's $30 ratchet rod model and finished the whole room in half the time with zero drips. Anyone else find that certain tools just aren't worth saving a few bucks on?

Dripping and the rod would slip back" - man that is exactly what I dealt with. I bought a dollar store caulk gun for a bathroom job thinking I was being smart and ended up with caulk all over my hands and the floor. The rod slipping is the worst part, you stop for two seconds and it loses all the pressure. Spent $25 on a decent one at the hardware store and it's like night and day. Cheap tools like that just make the job take twice as long and leave you swearing at a tube of silicone.
